Hello fellow Lions,

This is the beginning of the 3rd month of the year.  You know what that means, our fundraiser of the year.  That’s right our Bowling Classic at Narrows Bowl on March 29th.  We are getting some things for door prizes and our silent auction but we need bowlers and spectators. Let’s get the word out and invite everyone we know.

The 2019–2020 District 19–C Spring Conference will be held April 17 & 18, 2020, at the LaQuinta Hotel, Tacoma. Newly–installed International Director Allan Hunt is scheduled as the International Guest.  Let’s make plans to go and make a big impression.

If you are interested in holding an office this year,  tell VP Ann Fowler. She will put you on the nominating list. We will vote on March 17th for the new officers for 2020-2021.

On March 17th we are all honorary Leprechauns. Remember to wear green on that day.

President Don Becker

Recipe from:

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 35 minutes

Total Time: 50 minutes

Yield: 12-15 brownies

  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup Guinness Stout beer
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup salted butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup cocoa (I used Hershey’s dark cocoa)

  • 5 oz semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp salted butter
  • 2 tbsp guiness
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9×9 square baking pan and line it with parchment paper
  2. Mix together the oil, guinness, sugar and vanilla extract in a large bowl
  3. Add butter and mix until well combined
  4. Add eggs and mix until well combined
  5. Combine flour and cocoa in another medium sized bowl
  6. Slowly add dry ingredients to the egg mixture until well combined
  7. Pour the batter into the pan and spread evenly
  8. Bake for 35-38 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few crumbs. Allow brownies to cool
  9. To make ganache, place chocolate chips, butter and guinness into a microwave safe bowl and microwave until guinness gets hot and butter starts to melt
  10. Whisk together chocolate mixture until smooth, microwaving for a little longer, if needed, using 30 second increments
  11. Add powdered sugar and whisk until smooth
  12. Pour ganache over brownies and spread into an even layer
  13. Cut into bars

Do you look at your neighbor and ask if he or she is lucky?
Does your neighbor look at you and ask are you lucky?
Are you lucky, or do you have a plan for your life?
If you live your life with a plan and a purpose and things work out do you consider yourself lucky?
When you leave this world are you lucky enough to leave your:
“Paw Prints in the Sand”?
